You know when you are getting a tablet that is not an IPAD there will be some compromises, but overall I think it s a great tablet for the price. -Access to so much stupid non-age-appropriate content that I felt the need to filter out -Longer than normal processing -Too many steps to change settings (shortcuts aren t as customizable) -Did I mention stupid content? -Great Case -The warranty is worth the purchase!!!! -The option to download content so that when you are without wifi it still works well with no data usage -Freetime has lots of options for entertainment I would recommend getting a large SD card so you aren t restricted to the number of apps that are able to be download. and also to have realistic expectations.

My 6 year old son loves it! The screen is huge and so easy for him to navigate it. Theres a ton of books and movies he can watch or read. Keeps him busy for hours. Theres a ton of learning games so he can switch from educational to just playing games. So glad I found this. The being able to make payments on it is just an added plus for the parent.

We upgraded from the old 8 model we ve had for 2 years or so. The upgraded screen and internal specs are a welcome improvement and performance. Like another review I am very disappointed that the transfer option doesn t work. I reset the damn thing about 10 times trying to get the applications and data over. Also any SD card from an older device will not copy over, the SD card must be formatted on this device. I highly recommend getting a large SD card to go with this. We bought a 128GB card so I shouldn t need to ever worry about space. This is a great kids tablet with great screen. It is much faster than older models with increased storage. Including USB-C is wonderful and I can now get rid of my micro-usb chargers laying around. Highly recommended!

Kind of under estimated how big it is ! My 3 year old autistic son loves it . A little difficult to get out of apps , since it doesn t have a button to return to the main screen, but he ll adjust. Otherwise the tablet is super durable HUGE ! There s so many apps that it can get overwhelming, but also a huge variety to choose from. And the biggest plus was that it does have Disney on their App Store!

I love the blue bumper on the tablet to protect it from getting broken. I love how everything is kid and baby friendly. The set up was super easy and fast! My son loves his tablet and I m super excited I purchased this!! Plenty of fun for kids of all ages for sure!!!

Very upset! This is NOT a tablet or case for a child!! This is for my children who are 10 and 6. Would never have ordered if I knew it was going to be for a grown up. My son dropped the last tablet and cracked the whole screen, so I swore the next case we would get would be one where he wouldn t be able to crack ANYTHING !! Update: Customer service was great and replaced everything and we received the first tablet today. My son loves it and has been on it since we got it! Very happy now and will be receiving my daughters tomm so will be even happier then

First off let me say that there is a lot to like about this tablet. I m overall happy with my purchase and we are keeping it as my daughter really likes it. Now let me tell you the good and the not so good. The good: 1: Amazon FreeTime, this is the whole reason to even be here. This is a great idea and your kids will love it. The big thing you must know is that you can have this without owning this tablet. If you want to subscribe to FreeTime on your IPad you can do that and not buy another device. 2: The big beautiful 10 display and the fast 8 core processor. It s very nice,the touchscreen works well and the tablet is very responsive. The screen is not quite at the level of an Apple product, but at this price point I m more than pleased. 3: The camera, it has a nice camera for taking stills and video w audio. Kids can add text and emojis to the photos which my child loved. This was very intuitive for her to figure out, and my only comment would be from day one just purchase at least a128gb microsd card to hold the photos and video that they want to capture. That s well under 4: The case is great for younger kids 8 and under. The included case is very protective and perfect for this need. As they get a little older you could put it in a normal case. Now the not so good... 1: I have not found any way to scale the size of the type when reading books. A lot of the time it is so small even my child can t read it. I can t understand if it s this small on my 10 tablet how small it must be on the smaller versions. Please Amazon fix this! 2: I have not found any way to set up a way to have a two-way communication between the adult account and the child account. I understand why they have blocked out social media and Skype, etc. to keep out the creeps... but I wish they had a private video chat app that could be used between mom dad and the child. I really wanted to be able to FaceTime or Skype with my child on the tablet and I was hoping there would be some sort of functionality like this. Not a dealbreaker but a missed opportunity. 3: The parental control panel is not granular enough. It only allows very generic category control. It should allow you to choose specific apps and shows to turn on and off if you don t like their content (even if Amazon felt it was age appropriate). We don t care for Spongebob and I would really like to be able to remove it from the tablet without removing all the shows. 4: One huge issue for me is that they have locked it down to the point that it requires my adult password to join a new WiFi network. If I let her take it to her friends house I don t want to have to tell her friends parents my password to allow them to connect her tablet to the WiFi. Those sort of things should be non-protected. So make sure and download a bunch of books and apps when you first set it up like I luckily did, because I gave mine to my daughter on a trip and it would not connect to the WiFi at our hotel because of the hotspot gateway screen. At least she had what I had downloaded to use or it would have been a bust. I do like what they have done here... I know as my child gets older more and more content will show up on the tablet. I do feel that they have done a good job curating the content and it is of good quality. There is some that I personally could do without like spongebob but I can overlook that as not everything can be perfect. I can tell her no to that anyway. I do like that you can set limits and goals and that you can pause the tablet when you need to for discipline. I think it s a good investment and it should last several years.

I like it so far. I upgraded from the previous Kindle Kids Fire 10 inch. I think it s a worthy upgrade. The battery life is better, processor I believe is snappier and most importantly it uses USB-C now so I can ditch the micro USB cables lying around my home and car. The USB-C charges faster and in either direction, so I don t have to fumble around flipping the micro USB if it s dark. However the included charger here is only 9W. My chargers at home are 15 or 18W so I don t use the 9W one at all. I am docking 1 star on this because I can no longer install apps onto the microSD card. That was possible on old Kids Fire tablets. I bought 2 of these at a 2 for 1 discount. I also sent in my old Kids Fire 10 for a 30 gift card. These are for my little toddler boys, who love them. I do recommend getting this latest edition over any other Kids Kindle tablets.

Before ordering this, we were on the market for a tablet that would serve as a learning tool and source of entertainment for our daughter, who has autism. We looked at the major brands such as Apple and Samsung but did not want to dish out 500 or more just yet so we thought we would try the Fire tablet. We have experience with the Fire stick and TV so we assumed this would be a good product as well. We assumed right in this case! The battery life is actually better than a galaxy tab in my opinion. We had the galaxy tab kids back when they made those and thought that was a neat concept but the battery did not last near as long as this. Love the FreeTime mode! Like the galaxy tab for kids, we wanted some sort of interface similar to Kids Mode . After reading the description, this sounded on point. When it arrived and I configured it for her, it was a home run! The tablet comes pre-loaded with tons of apps and games. Bear in mind however that a subscription to prime is required for some of the features such as the books and videos to work. Being that this is an Amazon Android tablet, the marketplace is rich with apps you can use outside of free time. For example, we are learning from home due to COVID 19 and we were able to load ZOOM meetings so that she could continue to communicate with her teachers and speech therapists. The device supports it all without missing a beat. Another note on apps, you can install new apps from outside of FreeTime and then control whether they are accessible from inside of FreeTime or not. (Forgot to mention that FreeTime is password pin protected) TO MANY OF THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS: I cant blame people for being upset that this device did not perform to their expectations but after reading many of the complaints that speak to software and customization, I really believe they are perception based. The software is not perfect but if you really take time to learn how it works, its really not as bad as most of the 1 or 2 star complaints that I am seeing in that regard. There are YouTube videos out there that show you tips and tricks to customizing the experience, both in FreeTime and outside of the interface. For example, the ability to remove the built-in apps or to add multiple profiles to the tablet. TECH NOTE: Amazon s Fire OS is a branch of Android. It s just that the SDK is slightly different. This means that you can side load apps for Android that you may not be able to find on the Amazon app marketplace. For example, we wanted to use Chrome browser outside of FreeTime and so I side loaded it. Keep in mind however that some of the features may not work properly in the Android app. This is because of the slight differences in SDKs.

I bought two 10 inch Amazon kid tablets for my 2 year old granddaughter. One with me and one with her parents. Both of them turn off after 1 minute of play. Each time I would have to press a button to start back. For younger children it is difficult to press the recessed button down in the case. Last year I bought two 8 inch kids tablet. They are great but the 10 inch is just too annoying with the frequent time off controls. I contacted Amazon help and after one hour they could not fix either one of them. I have to return them for refund. I hope they fix this bug and hopefully the problem is with that production batch only. I give it 1 star for this awful issue. Fix it and it is all 5s. Update on 12 19. I talked with technical support and the issue could not be fixed but I am providing additional comments to fully explain the issue. The problem only exists on the kids side of the tablet. The screen will go blank after one minute of inactivity regardless of setting the timeout to a higher time limit. To restart a press of the top left button is necessary. When very young toddlers always bring the tablet to you for restarting is annoying. I finally did teach her which button to press to resume play on the tablet. The tablet is recommended for 3 years and up so if your child is two or younger they may have a hard time of resuming play. Last Update. Everything is working fine. My toddler has learned to turn it on when it time outs. The time out after one minute conserves battery life and is probably a good function for the very young. The tablet is a great learning tool. Sorry for all the details but the learning curve is documented here. I have upgraded it to 5
