Before I say anything else I want to say. I waited WAY too long to get a remote for the Xbox One. If you recently got an Xbox One as a gift for someone or for yourself. Buy a remote! especially if you didn't get a play and charge kit, you will be a lot happier overall. It will be worth it later.

I've also included photos of this remote and comparison photos to my other two remotes (Tv remote and Cable remote) along side the MS Media remote.

Quick non-wordy breakdown:
Pros:
- Easy to use.
- Battery saver.
- Great for Media (Netflix, blu-ray, youtube, etc..)
- Backlit for night time visibility (lights up when moved.)
- Comfortable in the hand.
- Didn't cost 25 bucks...

Cons:
- Buttons are very "Firm".
- Backlighting only lasts a few seconds
- Button arrangement/layout leaves something to be desired.

I like the feel of the remote and how brightly it can glow. I also appreciate that it came with a pair of batteries. However, it only stays lit for a few seconds and it dims in like 2-3 seconds leaving you little time to find buttons in the dark if you happen to be looking for a specific button. The top most button "dashboard" button does not light up at all and neither do the A, B, X, and Y buttons. They do have a nice bright paint on them though which is great if you do have light to see them...

It's super easy to use. Just point and click once the batteries are in.

I like the idea that this remote is an all in one including the normal controller buttons. However, I'd really like it if the 'back' button or the B button were closer to the radial selector. I feel like the Microsoft remote has a better overall layout in this regard. It's a lot more like a normal TV remote in the layout making a bit more intuitive to use. I'd also like to say that the buttons, especially the radial selector are a bit firm. By that I mean the force needed to actually press the button is more than I'd like it to be. Feels like I have to press through the layer of silicone or rubber material in order to press it. In comparison, the Microsoft remote while similar is still much easier to press the buttons on. (Not a huge problem but definitely something I'm not a fan of.)

I like how it feels in my hand and the material feels the same overall as the Microsoft Media remote. If I was to break this down into a price basis. You technically get a lot more for the same overall quality and feel as the Microsoft Media remote. However, I do not have my cable hooked up into the Xbox One so I cannot test that portion and I'm not sure how useful the added buttons like the number pad really are. Apparently, I cannot even turn the volume up or down unless this is done. A huge drawback.

I will update this later when I route the cable into the xbox and try using the media controls that way.

I bought this remote because I habitually use my Xbox One to watch shows and movies on Hulu, Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc. I saw the price of the official Microsoft Media Remote and said "nope". Seriously... $50 for a remote?! Being the reasonable person I am (and that you are since you are looking here), I went with this remote.

I am well pleased with the Talon Media Remote. There was absolutely no setup involved aside from placing the batteries inside it. I have read some reviews complaining that they had troubles with the remote's infrared getting to the console. Personally, this remote is working better than my Vizio TV remote. It may also help that my Xbox is on an open shelf of the TV stand with no interference such as cabinet doors.

The remote itself feels well-made. The material feels soft but has more than adequate grip. The entire backing comes off in order to add or replace batteries, which can be annoying to some, but it really makes the remote look nicer and it feels nicer to hold.

The remote also has a nifty backlighting so you can see in the darkest of times. Others have complained that the backlighting needs to sustain itself for just a little bit longer so they can find their desired button. I had experienced no trouble with that until I really needed the backlighting, and I couldn't agree more- hence the 4 stars instead of 5.

The Xbox "Home" button on the remote can turn on your Xbox which has completely eliminated my need for a controller when I just want to watch a movie or show. And the remote doesn't have to constantly be turned on and connected again when you haven't touched it for so long, unlike the Xbox controllers. That has been most handy for me.

If you want to use a simple, cheaper but well made remote to watch your shows and movies instead of your controller, this is an excellent option!

Hope I could help you with your decision. Godspeed.

I will admit that I did not have much hopes when I bought this remote. I had previously owned the official Microsoft Xbox One remote and it did not work as well as I hoped. The way I have my entertainment system set up, my normal day to day tv and movie watching goes through my Xbox One. The cable DVR set top box goes through the Xbox One HDMI pass through and then to my 7.2 receiver, and finally on to my TV. I have the Xbox One set up to control the receiver, Cable STB, and TV already so this remote was ready to go out the box.

I love the fact that it not only controls the volume and channels, but it also works with the FF, RR, Play/Pause, Skip<, and Skip> on my DVR/STB. I had trouble with that on the MS remote. It also has the number pads that work flawlessly. The one thing I hated with the MS is trying to use the One Guide to jump around on the TV channels, you would have to scroll from channel 1100 all the way to 1800. Now I can simpley input the numbers and there it goes, so much quicker.

It works flawlessly with all the app I use on my Xbox One. Watching videos on Netflix, Hulu, HBOgo, Amazon, Crunchyroll, YouTube, etc. is a simple and the response if fast.

I also like the silver Xbox Home button on the top, it is easy to find when turning everything on and looks great in contrast with the black. But that also raises one of the issue I have with this remote, there is not power off button. I know you can hold the Xbox Home button for 3 seconds and select "power off" but that is a few more presses than what is needed. The old Harmony remote that I was using had a button for power so there is a IR signal available.

This would nearly be a perfect remote, but the one function it doesnt have is a button to view the recorded shows on my DVR. I know that is more of a fault the Xbox One's capabilities and programming, so I did not want to ding it too much. Some of my other minor gripes is the buttons all feel the same, often time there are dimples or bumps on the 5 to center your finger, or the volume and channel buttons have varied feels to them to differentiate. Even though it is back-lite, I like to keep my eye on the TV and not have to look down at the remote to know what button I am pressing.

All in all I gave it a 4 out of 5 because it is a very functional remote that lets me hide the remote for the TV, Cable STB, and Receiver so I can just use this one for every day use. The only reason I keep the others around is so I can do some tweaks to the other components when need be.

This remote is great for me. My husband and I are currently living with family while our house is being built. We occupy a small room with our 2 dogs. We were not about to sign a contract for satellite or cable TV for the few months we are here so I decided to check out Hulu. It suits our needs for the time being. The only problem was using our XBox One S controller. The controller is very touchy like if you tossed it on the bed, you ran the chance of one of the toggles getting pressed. Then the show we were watching would rewind, ff, pause, or whatever. Also the controller would turn off too quickly (I know.... to save battery life). It just became a pain and frustrating to continue to use the controller for anything other than game playing.

This remote is great for my use. When I got it I was all ready to program my Samsung TV for volume, etc. Well I didn't have to! It recognized my TV right away and programmed itself! First time ever an electronic did that for me!

The ONLY thing that I don't like is how quickly the backlight turns off. Now that I am getting familiar with the button locations it is not that big of deal. But my first few day I was constantly shaking it while I searched for the right button.

I wish I’d gotten one of these a while ago. I mostly game on my PC so my XBox is kind of a Netflix/Hulu/streaming machine. It got too annoying to navigate apps with the controller so I decided it was time to get a remote and it’s so worth it. It’s much easier to watch stuff, I don’t accidentally hit buttons on the controller and rewind or anything anymore. It didn’t come with instructions so if there’s a way to set it up so that you can use th volume buttons I don’t know how to do it, that’s the only downside.

В  В I'm immediately impressed when I pull it out of the box. The matte satin finish is appealing and the fact that the remote lights up when a button is pushed or when it senses movement is a big plus. I've had remotes that you couldn't find the button you wanted in low light until you blindly pressed a button. The Talon remote eliminates the need to do this.

At first the remote only seemed to work a few inches in front of the Xbox. В I was able to prop up the front of my Xbox a couple inches and now I can use the remote just fine. If you're experiencing problems with the remote connecting I'd recommend moving the Xbox so that its in line of sight with the remote as much as possible,. My setup has my Xbox around waist level, I wasn't able to sync the remote with my tv to adjust the volume, so I still have to use a separate remote if I want to turn the tv up or down.

Overall, the remote looks great, feels wonderful in my hand, and the light up feature makes it easy to find the controls you're looking for.

5/5 stars

It is so nice to have a remote to control the Xbox One instead of a controller when watching a movie. The added lights to the buttons are wonderful for low light rooms or dark rooms. I do wish the lights would stay on just a little longer then they do. I would rather have to recharge the batteries, that I put in it, more often if the light stayed on for just another second or two. That is my only complaint about the remote. Other than that I love the remote. Its build quality is pretty decent and I think it will hold up for a long time. I definitely recommend this remote, especially if you are still using a controller to control Netflix or Hulu or one of the other movie streamers.

This thing works great! The grippy back and the fact that its back lit upon lifting it up is awesome. Navigating my xbox one to watch Netflix, HBO, and Amazaon has never been easier. No more battery drain on my controllers! No more frustrating scowls by the missus on how she 'hates using that clunky thing' (in reference to the controller). One draw back i had is the fact that i couldn't get the volume buttons configured for my super hi-tech Hisense TV, but i think that is more an XBOX One thing and not the remotes fault. This is the remote to own.

It works right out of the box, and I had no issues with video streaming apps like Netflix, Hulu, or Sling.

The distance from my set to the couch is about 8ft and I had no issues at all with the remote not responding.

The light-up buttons are a nice touch, although it confused me when they kept lighting up when I moved the remote without pressing them.

Remote has a great design feel comfortable in the hand easy to use really like the auto backlight feature and did not even need to go through the pain in the ass of trying to connect it to the Xbox worked with no issues right out of the box just popped the batteries in and off I went. I love how it also has twice the features of the Xbox version and dose not feel like a cheap piece of plastic like the Xbox One does.
