This blue tape is terrific. I use it all the time. Have used it for 15 years. I love it.

Nowadays there are a variety of painters' masking tapes available. Many are blue. You'll also find green, brown, tan, yellow, orange, etc. The specialty blue tapes usually have an overprint on them so you can tell them apart. I've used most of them. They all have their uses.

But this "original" blue tape is the one that's on my workbench, in tool boxes, and even in my kitchen. Why kitchen? Because as a bonus, this tape makes great labels on leftover containers. With a couple inches of blue tape and a Sharpie, you'll never again wonder how old is that leftover container. You'll know. Some lids have gone through the dishwasher with blue tape labels, and the blue tape stayed on even then. It still peeled off easily.

Pictures show this blue tape in action while painting a door with Modern Masters 275270 Satin Front Door Paint, 1 quart, Calm. The tape stuck well. Very little paint leaked under the tape edge. The tape removed easily. Just make sure the paint is cured enough to withstand the tape removal.

This blue tape made my home paint jobs easier for years. That's why I'm happy to review it today, just because I love it. I hope you find this helpful.

What can I say about a regular roll of tape.

I thought I ordered automotive tape because that's what I typed into the search engine. One click led to another and apparently I bought painter's tape, whoops! But is there even a difference?

This roll was used for taping off rubber and vinyl trim on my car for compounding and polishing. It is labeled painter's tape, and I noticed that if the tape was left on for a couple hours, specifically on the clearcoating of my car's paint, it left a very fine line of adhesive. This was easily buffed out with a microfiber cloth and even then I was using a polishing compound anyway, so it was gone quick. Just thought I would note that.

This is some wide tape! Close to 2" wide tape is giant for exterior car trim!

I have purchased this tape multiple times to use for a variety of wall/trim paint projects around our condo. It does an amazing job in holding to surfaces firmly without concern of damaging nor peeling when removing, even after extended periods of application. The tape does well to allow for clean lines without concerns of any paint bleeding through the edges.

I have used the tape on walls, wood trim, metal window frames, carpet, etc. and the tape has performed incredibly well every time, standing up to plenty of traffic and wear during the course of projects. I made the mistake at one point of opting to use the marginally less expensive in-house Home Depot painter's tape and could not have regretted it more. You could tell immediately the tape had far less stickiness to it and it basically kept coming off the walls and floor through almost the entire project! I have been loyal to ScotchBlue ever since!!

This tape is also great for random other uses like tagging objects/surfaces around the home without fear of causing damage. Also great for bundling random tools/parts for storage and easily tearing off when needed.

I have found this a good tape for painting but with some qualifications. It is very sticky compared with other brands which has pluses and minuses. On the plus side you can make razor sharp lines between one paint and another with this tape. Also, there rarely is any bleed under the tape and it comes off with no residue whatever. On the minus, it is harder to manipulate and place and sometimes harder to remove--especially if you try to strip a really long line of tape from a wall to ceiling junction all in one piece.. I also think that the tape is a bit on the thin side, and thus tends to tear off mid-piece a bit more often when removing it than some others. Because of the latter concern I would not use it again for really high, hard to reach ceiling masking.Otherwise: very satisfied.

This tape is perfect for me and all my projects. I paint cars and add different custom work using this tape and have yet to have any issues. It's very consistent and the tackiness isn't too tacky so that it damages the surface it's on. I have also used this as an alternative to transfer tape when making decals for vehicles, again it's gentle enough to hold something in place such as vinyl without damaging it. Will buy again soon.

My husband and I are currently painting the upstairs of our home which is around 1800 sq ft. Then we decided to replace doors and moldings too. Thus we have done lots and lots of taping, to go with our painting. I am currently working on chair-rail molding and crown moldings. We painted the walls a few weeks ago. I work around the room in sections and tape the chair-rail on the top and the bottom, then grab the paint and paint that section. While that drys for a few minutes, tape the next section and paint it. Then remove the tape from the first section. By using this method, the paint doesn't bleed onto the painted wall, and I don't have to use a razor blade to get the tape off the wall, and the tape doesn't take my recently painted wall paint with it.

Scotch brands always seem to perform a little better than the knockoffs. It's not a huge difference, but when I want the best quality, I go for Scotch. I like this tape because it's one of the widest I could find and provides excellent coverage. Unlike knockoffs, the Scotch always seems to pull up clean without leaving any residue.

This tape was extremely versatile in its uses. As it’s name implies, I used it to block off areas I was planning to paint. Worked extremely well. I also used it for sticking things to my wall for measurement and etc. Does not damage the wall at all. The tape is extremely easy to tear off as well. As this tape is from a credible manufacturer, there isn’t anything to worry about it.

As painters tapes go, 3M is the tape to get. There is painter's tape at half the price, but it doesn't seem to stick well. This blue tape stuck well when we needed it to and peeled off without damaging any paint.

We did find the packaging a little bit hard to open with out using a knife, but that's not a big deal. Overall, it seems like a great product.

This also works well for 3D printing. However, to avoid creases in the bottom of the print, I recommend getting the wider tape. They have a 1.88 inch version. The wider tape allows for faster application to your print bed as well as less creases in the bottom of your 3D print.

My only gripe about this tape is that it's twice the price. It works great though.

I have used this tape for over ten years around my home, studio and my kitchen. The tape does not leave a sticky residue behind when I use it to tape fine drawing paper to a board, attach a canvas to a frame to check how it looks as I'm going along on a painting project, block off areas on a watercolor painting, label glass milk bottles in my refrigerator, large glass containers in my pantry and of course it can be used to tape off walls, around door frames or any place you want to protect while painting trim in your home. I've also used it to tape off large areas when stenciling squares, diamonds or anywhere you need to protect a straight edge while doing canvas rugs. Great tape!

My only caveat I would give about the tape being used when painting trim is to attach it where you want and then use a burnishing tool or firm edge like a fingernail and rub along the edge you DO NOT want paint to seep under. Brush paint away from the edge as much as possible or you can have seeping. Tape comes up later without a problem and many times can be reused.

I always have many rolls of this around my home but have found it harder to find in my areas recently so I came to Amazon and guess what - the tape I love to use and for less money! I'm happy!
