In recent years scientists by means of supercomputers try to understand and resolve the most mysterious and complex problems of modern science. The big step in this direction was taken by scientists from the universities of Cambridge, Southampton, Cardiff and their Russian colleagues from Institute of science and technologies (Skolkovo).

Joint efforts they have created the experimental computer on the basis of so-called "magic dust" — special combination of light and matter. Already the first tests have shown her unique opportunities on the speed of the solution of some tasks, having surpassed in it even quantum computers.

"Magic dust" represents a set of special quasiparticles – polaritons. Polaritons are virtual particles which like a photon behave both as a wave, and as a particle. As a result of theoretical calculations of the Russian physicists and made then experiments it has been proved that polaritons can be used as data carriers in supercomputers of the next generation – light and quantum.

In the near future they will be able already to distribute power streams and other resources, to operate traffic in real time, to do forecasts for stock quotations and to define an optimum course of development of economy.
