Oh my gosh who knew that having a Bunn was going to be so wonderful! I love it. I can make coffee when someone comes over and it is done before you can blink. I love this. I really recommend this. I've gone through lots of cheaper coffee makers and was really hesitant to get this. I started adding up the cost of replacing coffee makers and decided to bite the bullet. It is so worth it. If you have never tried one, get this. It's wonderful. Seriously.

I had a 2006 Bunn Speed Brew for about 10 years, but it started leaking cold water. I found that there were cracks around the spray nozzle, so had to get a new coffee maker. I have been a Bunn fan for many years, but was hesitant to buy another due to several negative reviews and comments about an electrical burning smell, the less inferior construction, more plastic, and being made in China now. I looked at the top three or four brands/models, and all had negative reviews that made me second-guess myself. Ultimately, I decided to take a chance on Bunn again because I like my coffee ASAP, and a 3-4 minute brew time beats out all of the fancier options that other machines offer.

My order arrived in two days, was packaged well, and all parts were there. Other than the stainless front (where logo is) and the newer carafe design, this machine appears to be exactly the same in size, shape, and quality as my 2006 Speed Brew model. The carafe is curvier, but I am sure my old carafes will still work (I keep extras in case of breakage, making different flavors, or when one is in the dishwasher).

I removed all of the tape and plastic from the brewer and components, and followed setup instructions to the letter. NOTE: after pouring in the second carafe of water, I only got a half pot of water back to dump out. When turning on the water tank, make sure the red part of the switch is visible (RED = ON). The whole I/O thing confuses some people. Instructions said it takes 15 minutes for the water tank to heat the very first time. It was more like 20+ for me. I was starting to worry when the tank wasn't gurgling and getting warm right away, like my old Bunn used to. Fears of repackaging and returning it were not realized, thank goodness.

Unlike some of the negative reviews mentioned, I DID NOT smell anything like electrical or plastic melting. The manual smelled worse. рџ?‰

There were complaints of overflowing and grounds in the coffee. It is VERY IMPORTANT to use BUNN brand filters with these machines. If you think you're going to save money by using the cheaper filters, you'll be sorry! They are shorter and cannot handle the rapid and wide spray of water the Bunn brewer puts out; you WILL either overflow or end up with grounds in your coffee. I buy Bunn filters at Walmart for under $2 for a box of 100. Soooo worth it! I have also tried reusable filters, but had issues with those as well. Don't bother. A sample pack of approx 50 Bunn filters will come with this unit to get you started.

For newbies wondering about the amount of coffee to use: I prefer to use either Maxwell House or Folgers Columbian or a dark roast coffee. I used half-caff before, but it seemed weaker as time went by, and I started wondering whether it was coffee or ground up tree bark. Also, half-caff is a finer grind of coffee, which may overflow the basket if you use a lot. Because the half-caff tasted weaker, I would use twice the amount of coffee, causing overflow. I like my coffee med-strong, and I normally use 4 level scoops (1/8C or 30ml coffee measure). The new brewer seems to make to coffee a tad bit stronger than my old one, so I might have to cut back to 3-1/2 or so.

IMPROVEMENT: The spray nozzle on my 2006 model would fall off constantly, and frequently got tossed in the garbage accidentally. I had to keep a replacement on hand at all times. The new brewer has corrected this issue! Yay!!!

So far, I have no complaints!

We LOVE our Bunn! We only use filtered water, as our last one had a terrible time with lime buildup, so we had to descale it often. We've not noticed this problem with our new Bunn since only using the filtered water. Definitely recommend plugging it into a power strip with surge protection, as a power outage (and power coming back on) is what killed our old one. It had lasted quite easily for about 4 years at that point and would probably still be going strong if not for the power outage. I expect nothing less with this new one.

I won't buy a coffee maker unless it's Bunn, hun.

Also, whoever designed the instruction manual deserves a nice big raise. It's just very well designed, even funny at times, which is what any company should strive toward rather than pumping out big, bland, black-and-white manuals.

OMG! I'm sold on this one. Had a friend tell me to buy this coffee pot and I would not be disappointed. She was completely right! You can brew a pot of coffee in under 4 minutes. When I'm rushing to get out of the house, it quickly has my coffee ready. I'm very impressed with the instant gratification of this coffee maker!

Two months:

I think this is the best coffee maker I've owned. Being 52 and 1/2 I've owned a lot. From Seattle. Lived four years in Provence. I know a little about coffee.

yes the decanter dribbles if you're an impatient pourer. It doesn't take a brain surgeon to slow down a tad and avoid spills.

Coffee tastes differently due to the complete, quick immersion of ground coffee. Adjust your roast, grind and amount of coffee and water according to taste. I find it makes much stronger and bold coffee with less bitterness but it takes more ground coffee than I was used to using in other makers. If you want a slow drip and use less coffee (perhaps making it bitter) Bunn offers a different spray head that slows down the process and makes it stronger. I prefer to grind a couple tablespoons more coffee instead of waiting for potentially bitter brew.

Yes it holds a tank of hot water. Is water out of your tap fresh? define "fresh." Water that's been sitting in municipal pipelines or even bottled water doesn't strike me as "fresh." A barrel filled outside by rain might be "fresh" if you don't mind acid with your water. Water poured "fresh" from the tap into other coffee makers is mixed with moisture remaining from before in a cool dark area perfect for mold and mildew to grow.

Yes it keeps the tank of water hot by using electricity. It doesn't use a lot after it heats up to keep it warm. If you don't use it every day this isn't the coffee maker for you. I'm slightly amused over the environmental concerns expressed over this feature. If you have this concern, do you turn off your water heater at night? Do you turn off your A/C and furnace when you leave the house? Do you unplug the refrigerator? If your answer to any of these is yes, this isn't the coffee maker for you.

If you like no-nonsense consistently quick brewed coffee (not latte, not mocha grande low fat foo foo) made as strong as you want (careful what you wish for...) this might be the maker for you.

Did I mention it has a three year warranty?

Love this coffee maker. I'm not real patient when it comes to my coffee! I want it NOW. This is so fast because it has a mini hot-water heater running all the time so when you are ready for coffee, just pour in the cold water and immediately the hot coffee starts to pour into the carafe. I had one before and for some dumb reason went with a fancy, over priced Mr. Coffee and within a week things started to go wrong with it. First the digital display (overkill for a coffee pot on my opinion) started to flicker, then the timer died, then the clock. I tossed that Mr. Coffee in the trash (oh yea, thats the other thing, it's wouldn't clean no matter how much vinegar you put through it.) When I tore it apart the bottom 2 inches of the boiler was clean but the top 4 inches never got clean at all. Very poor design. My last BUNN lasted several years even with hard water. I like the updated look and I'm glad it's not digital and that it uses reliable mechanical switches. Less things to malfunction. If you like your coffee NOW! Buy this!

The best customer for this coffee pot would brew at least one pot per day. The water in the reserve evaporates quickly. I bought it strictly because it fills in front and I have a short shelf with a little exposure up front, and got tired of pulling the old pot out to fill it every time.

It brews VERY fast, delivers an excellent product (although I'm not a coffee snob) and the pot is truly not a dribbler. Every other carafe I've had dribbles all over when I use it. This one does not.

Because I don't use it for a day or two, I will brew a pot of water and then a pot of coffee, otherwise, I only get about 7 cups out.

Received my coffee maker fast! The instructions were easy enough but didn't realize it had to be completely full to work and figured it out the instructions were vague on that however I am glad I purchased it anyway what a value! I looked in numerous stores and white a while and found Bunn at Amazon is truly the best model at a great value!I used to wait forever for a pot now 3 minutes to wake up!

After 25 years we had to replace our coffee maker and, of course, bought another Bunn. When our daughter bought a house, it is the one thing she asked us to get her. No timers on this baby, but you don't need it since a pot of coffee is done in three minutes. Really!!
