Always have used shop vac before buying this vacmaster, This vacuum makes alot less nosie than the shop vac and has much better suction too. It came with all the accessories you need for a good cleaning job. Also very light and easy to change the filler or dust bag.

We needed a new vac and it was a hard decision because so many seem in the same price range and reviews were a mixed bag on most of them. This one I picked partly based on the reviews and also based on how it looked. Been using it for a few days now and the suction is great. Picks up everything from dust to sand to cheerios, and it's not loud like other shop type vacs we have had. No issue with moving it around and all the attachments fit snugly and are easy to use. It arrived quickly and no damages or issues. I am so pleased I chose this vac. My hubby also loves it. He said he would recommend this to anyone over the ones most people know. I agree. It's really a good vac and I can see this lasting a number of years. I was worried the 3 HP motor wouldn't be as good as the 6 HP one in our old vac but I don't even notice a difference. The hose is very well made also, which is a pet peeve I have with vac hoses. Lots are made so flimsy you just know you will get a ding or hole in it and need some duct tape before you even had it a couple months. I don't feel this hose will have that issue under normal use. Again, I really am pleased with this purchase and if you are like me, reading all the reviews trying to decide, get this one. It looks nice, works great.

I would give this 3 stars if there was a better vacuum for the price. As a vacuum, this is actually a very good vacuum. It has incredibly good suction. In fact, I once sucked up a large cat toy that obstructed over 75% of the hose, and it was still somewhat effective. The vacuum is easy to assemble and clean. The filter is easily changed and cleaned. The hose is easily removed and replaced. The hose extensions and other accessories fit very well. The vacuum rolls easily and the switch works well. It's reasonably light weight and easy to transport. It works somewhat well as blower as well.
I do however, have some negative feedback: the end of the hose is bent at a dog leg angle that makes it hard to remove any obstructions and is rather uncomfortable to hold. The end of the hose you grip during use has a slider that opens up a hole in the hose. I suspect this is supposed to reduce the suction in the hose if you suck up something you didn't mean to, like a sock. However, the vacuum is so powerful that it retains a large amount of suction whether this is open or not. If this slider were simply a useless addition, it wouldn't even be worth mentioning, but it's in a place such that it is constantly being opened and is hard to seal fully. This is probably the worst feature of this vacuum. The vacuum has 8 places to put attachments, 4 on the lid, and 4 more on the base over the wheels. The ones on the kid work fine, but their placement outs them in the way, especially for the floor attachment. The ones of the base are too small so none of the attachments will stay attached. The second biggest problem with this vacuum is the condition of the bristles on the brush attachments. Each of the bristles is rather rough on the sides, as opposed to be very smooth like glass. Because the bristles are so rough, debris gets stuck very easily in the brush and can be difficult to remove.

You could say...
It Sucks and it Blows... :j

Infantile humor aside, it really does develop good suction. And the exit force, really does blow things quite effectively.
For the longest time I bought exclusively 'shop-vac'. But this Vacmaster unit has performed as well... even better, than my standby brand.
In short, I would recommend this.
The build quality is great.
Aesthetics are pretty good too (I don't like the sloped curvy look of the modern shop-vacs)
It's quiet, quieter than my upright actually.
Easy to access the internals.
Works quite effectively with bags (and I can find the bags on amazon with no problem, another major positive).
The hose is okay, though there's no on board way of containing the hose. (Our solution was to take a loop style extension cord manager and corral the hose that way).
The other accessories are good quality.
And it's light weight.
Over all, it's an impressive little vacuum.

I've had this for about a year now. I had a very large (got an even better deal on a bigger one about 15 years ago) Shop-Vac. It was way too big for our needs. I'm not good at fixing things and our garage is unattached so I don't keep it as clean as I might for an attached garage. We use our shop-vac mostly in our house for doing the stairs, for doing cement, and for cleaning up dirtier jobs. We also use it for our vehicles. This thing came and it is quite small and very light. The wand or the hose that isn't flexible is still quite flexible or flimsy feeling. I was skeptical that it would work well. However, it has really been great. I love that my 9 year old son can use it to vacuum 2 flights of stairs by himself without any help. The attachments don't always stay on the vacuum as well as they should but that's not a deal breaker. The cord for plugging it in is not very long, but I always used my extension cord with my shop-vac so that hasn't changed. I have the filter and the dust bag and am very pleased. It does a great job on all the household messes we've tried to clean up. It doesn't take up a ton of space and is very lightweight. I don't love the slider on the wand - it covers a hole - I think it's there to release suction so it's easier to remove the hose while it's on... Don't know why it's there (I don't care enough to look it up) and it easily opens. I could have given this 4 stars but when I thought about the fact that it does all that I ask for it and my kids can easily move it and use it, what's not to like? If it lasts a few years, I'll for sure buy it again when it dies.

I purchased this on a whim, planning to use it for the sole purpose of emptying the ashes from my pellet stove, which I also just purchased and needed a quick solution. Ash vacs are out there but I figured why not try this and abuse the h-e-double hockeysticks out of it and see what happens? For the money, it was worth a shot. It arrived quickly and packed well in it's original retail box.

Clearly a Chinese-made piece, the quality actually isn't that bad. The fit and finish is nice and quality of the parts and pieces did not disappoint me at all. Having read reviews about poor suction, I wasn't expecting much when I first turned it on. To my surprise, it actually does quite well for it's size. Suction is good, it has never left me wishing I had sprung for a more powerful motor. There might be more powerful vacs out there but this is one is pretty much on par with any other shop vac I have ever used. The hose may be smaller in diameter than what you're used to (it's 1 1/4") but given the smaller size of the vac itself, the hose size is appropriately sized.

For light duty home applications like vacuuming out the cars and trucks, garage/basement floor clean up, household spills and leaks (and cleaning out pellet stoves) this vac is a superb choice. It's big enough to hold quite a bit of slop, but small and easily portable - and it doesn't take up much space in the garage when not in use. The power cord is nice and long and the hose is seven feet or so, plenty for most uses. It comes with a filter for dry vacuuming and a foam filter for wet vacuuming, as well as a (one) bag. The filter quality is acceptable, what you'd expect at this price point. Perfectly usable.

If you're a contractor, have a foot of water in your basement on a regular basis or otherwise plan to use this for big heavy messes on a daily basis, maybe buy something larger and more robust. But for 90% of homeowners, this is a perfect fit and great addition to your garage. By the way, with the dry filter and vacuum bag installed, this makes a good ash vac - not a single bit of ash has blown out of the exhaust or otherwise leaked on me yet. THIS IS NOT DESIGNED TO BE USED AS AN ASH VAC, and using it as such may void the warranty or shorten it's life. Just relating that for me, it works great for that purpose in addition to the stuff it was actually engineered to do.

For the money, absolutely worth a shot. Give it a try.

OMG!!! I can not say enough good things about this vacuum! IT IS AWESOME! My new friend in cleaning. We have a Electrolux, full on carpet machine, except it doesn't do wet. This little guy is easier to move around, has so much cleaning power, it pulls the water right off the floor, and in our case, up from the carpets. I used this bad little guy to shampoo the stairway carpets, and it left the carpet dryer than that crappy bissell we bought, and they are really clean! Now, if it could only suck the fleas off the cats... Really worth the money, I can't say enough good things about it!

Best little shop vac I have every owned! I have a big expensive Shop Vac in my garage, and bought this for our laundry room to clean up the hair and foot traffic dirt where our dogs sleep. Wow, was I pleasantly surprised! I am not kidding, but it's the best shop vac I now own, even much better than my big fancy one! It is light weight, but heavy enough that it does not tip over. The attachments are very functional and fit every need I have. The only negative would be the short cord, but for this price, it's great! I now use it around the house as we have hardwood just about everywhere except for our living room throw rug, where we still use our Kemore canister vacuum. The Kemore is great, and it is rated really high, but I use this little shop vac most of the time in the house. I have since bought two more, one more for the garage and the cars, and one for our cabin where we also have hardwood floors. I especially use it with the vacuum bags when I clean out the fireplace. But, we still use a regular vacuum for the carpet. We have also purchased another for our son. What a great shop vac, and especially for the price too!

Having been a lifelong renter, my transition to a homeowner has brought along a wide variety of needs. Since my new home is older (1996), it meant that one of those needs was a shopvac. For, you see, this house has popcorn ceilings, which are evil and nasty things. If you've never removed popcorn ceilings or sanded slipcoat/drywall then you need to know that the process produces a dust that is like talc. Well, that dust is no match for the Vacmaster.

So far, it has about 40+ hours of use on this insane dust (using the ultrafine particle engine filter that you have to buy separately. It comes with a standard filter and the wet filter) and it just keeps sucking away. It also doesn't lose much power, even when the bags get close to capacity.

I've had the opportunity to use other Wet/Dry vacs in the past and here are some of the better qualities of this product:

-It has plenty of power that is delivered in a reasonably quiet manner. Sure, it is still loud but it doesn't achieve that jet engine-like whine that other products create.
-Most of the attachments can be stored on the device, though it isn't a solid latch so they sometimes fall off
-It is very stable. I've only had 1 or 2 tips, which is pretty amazing for a device like this
-The seal between the canister and the lid is really firm so you don't end up shooting the dust out of the device as you suck it up on the frontend
-The big rocker switch on the top adds a subtle simplicity to using the thing. It's hard to put into words, but it improves the experience.
-The bags do a remarkable job of holding their contents instead of spilling them into the canister
-The cord is reasonably long
-It's really quite pretty :-)

My cons/unknowns are:
-haven't really tested the power on heavier items at this point so we'll have to see about that
-The narrow gauge tubing is great for the tasks I've been using it for but may not be optimal for larger pickup jobs
-Not as common a brand so depending on your location you may need to get supplies online

In any case, I love the thing. I want to hug it.

After the first use, I am extremely pleased with the Vacmaster. Easy to assemble, good pickup very good design for accessing attachments and fair ease in switching those attachments. Best of all, it seems to work so well for what my uses are.... First is dusting.... everything from walls, corners, hard to reach areas, to===pet hair removal!. I even vacuum my very, very large German Shepard dog and the unit is quiet enough that she doesn't become anxious. On a final note, I am a senior adult with several physical limitations and this unit is perfect ! Lightweight. easy usage, versatile and maneuverable ... and love the fact it can also be used as a blower, with a few simple changes...
