My chronic allergies and sinusitis have required that I use HEPA air filters in every room of my home. Over the past 20 years I have owned many different units, almost all of them were manufactured by Honeywell. While all had the same basic functions and worked quite well, this unit is by far the best and quietest air filter that I have ever owned. Consumer Reports rates this air filter very high and with good reason, because it's the best and most affordable unit on the market to date. The unit is very simple and offers double filtration, the extra thick charcoal filter is first, followed by the extra thick HEPA filter. The air is pulled in from the front of the unit where it goes through both filters and then comes out from an air grate on the top of the unit just behind the controls. This makes it a great space saver that can be placed almost anywhere, especially against a wall. There are 4 levels of filtration, #1) GERM, #2) GENERAL CLEAN #3) ALLERGEN and #4) TURBO.
The 1st level GERM is virtually silent, I've never owned an air filter that is this quiet - it is the perfect level to use while watching a movie. #2) is a pleasant white noise that is barely audible and offers a great amount of filtration. The 3rd and 4th levels offer superior air flow and are so much quieter than my other Honeywell filters. While I still own multiple Honeywell filters and use them daily throughout my home, I will be replacing them with this unit as my budget allows. In searching for this air filter I looked very closely at comparable units priced as high as $600.- I was searching for an air filter that offered great filtration, but was also quiet so I could use it daily in my home theater room. After looking at almost 20 different units and brands in the $200-$600 price range, checking Consumer Reports as well as the Amazon consumer feedback I was won over by this Honeywell unit because of the price, the basic method of filtration, the very cool control panel, the fact that I could place the unit against a wall, the convenient size of the unit, and finally my positive experience over the past 20 years with Honeywell products. In the end I am very pleased with my purchase and would highly recommend this unit. One final note, the ability to turn the blue light off on the control panel is a welcome upgrade over my other Honeywell units. Thank you Honeywell & Amazon!

Pros:
Easy to set up
Not too loud. Sounds like a small fan is on in the room. I like white noise like that.
Circulates air efficiently.
Filters air very well.

Cons:
Expensive air filters (only reason why I took 1 star off the total)

Other Comments:
The biggest thing I was looking for in an air filter is how much space it would cover. I have a 20'x20' living room with 9' ceilings connected to a kitchen roughly the same size. This keeps the entire 1500 square feet of my upstairs clean.

I ran it downstairs where I am doing demolition and BOY does it clean the air up fast when I have it on Turbo. Left it on overnight and it worked like a charm. I can already see the layers of dust in the carbon filter.

Sound wise in correspondence with fan speed:
Low ( They call it the "Germ" setting ) - sounds like an average fan on low
Medium ( They call it "General Clean" setting) - sounds like a fan on medium
High (They call it "Allergen" setting) - starting to get a little loud. Definitely cannot watch a movie in the same room with it on
Turbo (They call it "TURBO") - What? What did you say? Oh God! It's sucking everything in!

We purchased two of these for a larger area (open concept kitchen/dining/living room). We also have two cats and a golden lab and my wife has allergies. Our previous air filters both died after about 10 years.

Noise lever is a huge issue for me as I work around fans and equipment all day long. These were selected based on Consumer Reports ratings along with customer reviews on CR and Amazon. We've had them running for two months now and we love them.

We ran them on Turbo the first few nights and they are loud. As in no conversation in the room loud. But....the 'germ' mode (low) is fantastic. We can have them both running and they are barely noticeable as far noise level. Our running mode is to put them on 'High' (not Turbo) at night and then either off or 'germ'/low during the day.

With the pets, a lot of grandkids that vist, semi-rural property, and wood stove heat, we have a lot of dust, pollen, and animal hair. When you purchase a filter pack, it comes with four pre-filters and three HEPA filters (the unit requires three individual filters). These are roughly projected as needing to be changed every three months and one year respectively. Based on what I see so far I think we'll probably get 2 months for the pre-filters and 9 months for the HEPA filters. I consider that pretty darned good.

10/10 would buy again.

This is the quietest air purifier that we've ever owned! I can easily forget it's on, even at "turbo" speed. I wondered, that with the less noise, is there less power? No. It removes litter box smells, musty odors, general house yuck, quickly. All without the loud noises of other air purifiers. So, another one may be in our future for our upstairs.

When we first arrived to Virginia my kids were constantly sick. For weeks. And because there are seven of us, it would take days to work it's way through the lot of us. Just as one illness would end, another would begin! This year we made some serious changes, as I have a compromised immune system and just could not bare the thought of repeating last years neverending plague. We purchased this with the hopes that it would help us eliminate bacteria and pollutants from our home.

I am so very pleased with this product!!!!

We have it running in our home almost constantly. It's setup in our living room where we spend most of our time. The kids love to take balloons and toss them above it, so that the balloon rides on the air. So not only is it cleansing the air, it's providing entertainment. It is a little loud, but honestly, I like the white noise. It's not loud like, machine loud. It's loud like, I have it on high and can hear air blowing loud. Which is quite soothing to me.

I'm so glad we bought this. I recommend it to all of my friends.

This is the first product like this I've ever bought, I'm so glad I did!!! First off , I have noticed less dust on my furniture and the air in my home just feels lighter if that makes sense. I just changed the carbon filter and it was totally disgusting, I just couldn't believe how filthy dirty it was. It had pet hair along with dust and lots of it. I'm so glad it was on the filter and not in my house or worse yet in my lungs!!! If you're on the fense about this product buy it knowing it really works and cleans your air inside your home!!! I'm sure glad I did and want to buy another one for my bedroom.

Work well! The prefilter has collected so much dust in just 3 weeks in a PM2.5 PSI 150-200 environment in Singapore.

this is a review of the second filter i received, the first developed a humm at 4am both nights i had it, but it seemed to be helping with a chronic allergy cough, so i ordered a replacement. the new one does not have the humm and the noise it emmits stays constant, i have to say this new one is much quieter as well even on turbo. its big, so i had to find a good place for it my bedroom. so far loving it. the blue lights can be turned off. it has a 2,4 and 8 hour timer, 3 speeds plus turbo, so 4 speeds total. my cough is much better and im gonna say this filter has something to do with that. its also a good white noise for sleeping.

I have had this product for about a year. It has improved my health and given me peace of mind. We rent an old house with a floor furnace. If you know anything about floor furnaces, you'll know that they are ancient, they last forever, and when they do break, which is rarely, it is very hard to find replacement parts. But some clever repairmen will keep them going. The winter of 2016, our first winter in the house, we fired up the pilot for the furnace and thought everything was fine. After about a month I noticed that white plastic bottles and the white plastic toilet seat in the bathroom were turning black. I would clean it, and by the next day it would start to turn black again. I never saw this before so I went to Google. This phenomenon was mentioned, even in new houses, but there were no real solutions to it. I got enough info though to sleuth and theorize. I found that the white plastic has some kind static electricity and attracts black particles in the air. I then deduced that the black particles were soot which was coming from the floor furnace. This means that all this soot was floating in the air, hence the need for an air purifier. Bought the Honeywell after a LOT of research. I bought another brand initially, but when it came, it had 3 prong on the electrical plug and our house is so old that we would have to get an electrician to make the changes and the landlord wasn't going to do that. The Honeywell does not have a grounding plug so it would work in our house. We used it for a month or so and then the weather got warmer and we got PG&E to go under the house and blow out the pilot on the furnace. Turns out that the air pipe, which is needed to have a good mix of air and gas was turned off, so we had been using a defective floor furnace all winter. That was fixed and some other things, and now everything is working as designed. But it was the Honeywell that got us through a dangerous time when little particles of soot were flying about ready to be inhaled by unsuspecting occupants of the house. Once we turned on the True HEPA Allergen Remover air purifier, the white plastic bottles and the toilet seat never got black again. Now this winter, I have peace of mind because even though the furnace is working as designed, I really don't think the air in the house with the floor furnace on is healthy. The air purifier can make a room smell cleaner and lighter when the furnace is on. I can really tell the difference when the furnace is on and the air purifier is not on. We mostly use the middle switch. The white noise is there but, even though we both are sensitive to noise, we do not notice it within minutes. The unit is relatively light so I have moved it to the bedroom at times. Enough said. Good value. This was a great buy!
