This SanDisk Ultra USB 3.0 Flash Drive works exactly as you would expect it to. Transfers to and from the card seem to work quite quickly. The drive is about standard size, and like many others, has a slide button to slide the USB connector in and out. It also has a blue light that indicates readyness, and transfer activity. The drive is labeled in a way that makes it clear which side needs to be turned up for it to be inserted properly. (I hate drives that you have to try one way, and then the other, because you can't tell simply by looking at them which side should be turned up.) Finally, there is a molded, hole, in the curve at one end, to allow the drive to be carried on a key chain.

The one negative I found, which is the reason this is a four-star and not a five-star review has to do with the software on the drive. There is an executable that I believe has to do with drive security. When I ran it, it recognized that there was an update for the program, downloaded the update, but then the update would not run.

I paid full Amazon price for this flash drive. I wrote this review just to try to help others learn a little about it. I hope you found this review helpful. On the other hand, if you did not find this review helpful, I’d be interested in hearing why, so that I can attempt to edit it and make it more helpful to both you and others. If you leave a comment on the review, suggesting how it would be more helpful, I promise to respond to your comment, and to attempt to incorporate your suggestion in my review, if it is at all possible for me to do so. My goal is to write reviews that help people, as I have been helped by the reviews others have written. Thanks!

Should've done a little research, but I thought the write speeds would be more than 10MB/sec. it reached 14MB/sec for a little bit that was maxed out. This was transferring music files to the drive.

My SanDisk extreme is much better. I would highly recommend that one. Transferring the same music files it was above 50MB/sec the entire 12.2GB.

Write speed is most important to me. I didn't even test the read speed. I don't care if it can potentially reach 100MB/sec according to the packaging. Any flash drive I had never had an issue deleting or moving files off of it, but when I want to put stuff on it, that's when I need a good fast flash drive.

I transfer tons of movies from my computer to my flash drive in order to play them on my NeoTv player. For a few years I have been using the standard USB 2.0 flash drives. I would find myself being annoyed by how long it was taking to transfer the movies on the 2.0.

Last year I had bought a new laptop with a USB 3.0 port in it. I was so excited when I read that the 3.0 port was compatible with my 2.0 flash drives. I was ignorant to the fact that while the USB 2.0 drive would work fine in the 3.0 port, there would be no improvement in transfer speeds. Once again I was bummed.

I found this flash drive on Amazon for a really good price and again I was excited. I thought there would be a noticeable improvement in transfer speed, but to be honest, I thought it would be minimal (again, my ignorance).

When it arrived, I plugged this sucker in to transfer a movie and BAM! I was shocked at the difference in transfer speeds. I don't think I could ever go back to using USB 2.0.

This is a sleek, quality flash drive with a decent write speed. I've been averaging around 21 mb/sec using a usb 3 port. My other usb 2 SanDisk flash drives often only write at roughly 8 to 10 mb/s. This is a retractable flash drive.

We cut the cord awhile back so I use an external drive for watching some shows and movies occasionally. I had been using a USB 2.0 hard drive which is dying on me and now I'm unable to access the drive when it's plugged into the TV. I also needed to do a clean installation of Windows 10 on a new PC build so this USB 3.0 drive was perfect for my needs. I can't tell you how much faster this drive is than my USB 2.0 one. I get speeds averaging 125MB/sec when transferring from my M.2 SSD. The Windows 10 Pro installation was also incredibly fast, the whole process only took about 10 minutes. Super, super happy with this flash drive. Highly recommended.

Different USB flash drives have significantly different read/write speeds. This SanDisk Ultra is several times faster than cheaper flash drives. The SanDisk Ultra Pro is even faster, but a lot more expensive. This one seems to be the sweet spot in terms of performance vs. price. If you use a flash drive for transferring large files between your work computer and your home computer like I do, it's worth buying a "better" flash drive that has read/write speeds like this one. I'm attaching a Crystal DiskMark test that shows the read/write speeds of this flash drive.

I was not solicited or compensated in any way for making this review; I'm just a happy customer.

So I see a bunch of people grousing about the read/write speed (just like they do for every other flash drive). I take a more relaxed approach. My only criteria is that a flash drive actually works fast enough to load and/or transfer files within a few minutes, and that it be physically solid. This one meets my criteria and provides a lot of storage for the money. If I was concerned about microseconds and nanoseconds, I would buy a $200 flash drive.

First off, I have never liked USB Flash Drives which had moving components because it typically meant wires moving internally which would eventually break. With this device, however, it doesn't appear to be the case.. The outside plastic component appears to act as a sleeve with the internal component being the drive itself which slides in the sleeve. The sleeve captures the drive itself, and the button locks it into the open/closed state...

This device doesn't seem to have wires connected to the USB plug portion of the device which would fail after a month of continuous use - good on Sandisk for using a tried-and-true age old method of simplifying their device as many other manufacturers have done with other electronics, usb devices, and products outside of the electronic realm. This eliminates the need for wires, and flimsy components... My preference would be no moving parts at all - but this was the least expensive for 128GB USB 3.0...

I burned Windows 10 Pro to it for when I build my new computer so I can install it using USB... and I added all of my normal applications ( for install ) to it so I'll be ready to go when I upgrade PCs..

The 2 sides appear to fully capture the internal sliding usb drive, unfortunately, as I would prefer to remove the outer shell and use it as a non-moving flash-drive, but the shell has the look for a key-chain. All in all, for the price, USB 3, SanDisk reputable company who knows the industry, would be an excellent choice for you to purchase.

For the price this is excellent; for some reason on my machine it starts off at 130 MB/s then eventually drop to 10 MB/s;
Installed linux on it and its swap speed to be about 30 MB/s which is faster then any standard 7200rpm hard drive.
For most purposes if plugged into a 3.0 port this will copy down about 800MB a minute; or 5 Gigs in about 8 minutes real time in my practice.
***if using as a storage device Be Sure to format this in NTFS *** as it comes formatted in FAT32 which has a 3.99 Gig limit on single files.
For instance: ISO, IMG, BAK, MP4 and ANY files copied over 3.99 Gigs will error out at the 3.99 point. Then you just wasted 10 minutes.

Not as fast as the cz80 or whatever the extreme model of this one is, the 64gb model, but pretty decent read speeds at 130-140. Write speeds were lower at like 50-70, but still OK given the 16gb size of the drive. You won't run into that big of a problem with write speed on a drive this small. I use these for windows 7 and 10 installations, and seem to work pretty well, definitely faster than installing on USB 2.0 drives. I have a few other sandisk flash drives along with a few Ssds (one of which is almost 10 years old and still working strong) and they're all working well so I'm confident these will last too.

If you need small, fast, kinda cheap storage drives, if get these again.
