Works fine, as is supposed to...

Seems as though this is a couple year old technology, but I primarily bought it based on price. My house has old plaster walls & my cable provided modem/router (SB6850) wasn't broadcasting outside of 1 room. I did my research & was thinking of repeaters, but then saw that my best option was access points, as repeaters halve your throughput speed. I got a DOCSIS 3.0 modem & 2 of these routers. At 1st, I got these & was somewhat disappointed in the literature online & supplied w/ the unit. I couldn't find any literature of using these as an access point. For some reason, I couldn't turn off the router portion of the cable supplied unit & couldn't get this to work... until... I found instructions for another unit, that gave clear instructions to turn off the router features on this unit. In forums, I saw replies saying that it was not possible (which was incorrect).

So, I got them both hooked up as access points & awaited my modem. Basically, I had to assign each router their own address. When I hooked up the new modem, I just reset the main router (to factory settings) & gave it the main address & ran it through the 1st time setup, which paired it to the modem, etc. Easy hookup. My internet maxes out at around 58-59Mbps & I get full throttle out of my wireless, on my iPad/iPhone, so I can't complain.

My only complaint is the lack of instructions on the unit, which left me scouring the net for the right information to configure it as an access point/disabling the router function. The admin panel is a little more extensive than the Motorola/Arris one I'm used to, so it comes across as not real intuitive w/o any sort of manual, explaining how functions work.

But, do note that the last firmware update is from 2014 (doesn't come updated, but easy to do). The unit is limited to AC750 spec's. You can use the unit as a main router, or access point effectively. My whole house gets plenty of signal now - even outside.

I had been dealing with poor signal strength with an old router. I bought this to see if the new AC technology would improve signal in other parts of the house, and it does! The only thing is I wish the power cord on this was longer, it doesn't stretch from the floor to the shelf where my old router sat.

Super easy to set up, basically plug and play. No interference issues with an older router I have on the same network, or with my neighbors wifi. Excellent coverage area. Only gave it 4 stars because I've only had it a short time.

replaced older router with the d-link. works great.

Have had nothing but a great experience. replaces my router i have had for years and everything just works faster in the house. the kids watch netflix all at once (4 kids and laptops - 2 netflix accounts)

Even recommend to my neighbor. thanks Dlink on this one!

Set up was super easy, no issues installing, great range, no dropped connections. Very satisfied with the performance so far.
