Our old computer was just getting to the point where it could barely chug along. So, I began to look at alternatives. I considered an Intel Nuc i3 build. I considered buying various refurbished desktops. When I ran across the Acer Aspire TC-885-UA91 Desktop. I liked the specs 9th Gen Intel Core i3-9100, 8GB DDR4, 512GB SSD, etc. which was very similar to what I was thinking about building/buying. I realized that for less than the price of the Intel Nuc build I was considering and not a great deal more than buying a refurbished i3 desktop with an SSD, this was the best choice because it had a 9th generation i3 and a bigger SDD than I was thinking about and it had a full year warranty.

I ordered this PC around 11 PM one evening, and a day and 1/2 later it was delivered. It was boxed up nicely and it was easy to set up. I used my old keyboard and my old wireless mouse and both of them worked fine.

The system booted up without a hitch. Next, I had to work through the steps of signing on with Acer which didn't take but maybe 10 minutes or less. Once that was finished I checked to see if there were any system updates (there were) so I started that process and it took may 15 minutes to do that from start to finish.

The machine is quiet and it starts up in 1/10th of the time of the old desktop. We will use this computer for web surfing, maintaining our personal correspondence, pictures, some music, and some very light gaming.

I have not tried to use the DVD player/writer. It is in an awkward position but I'm not anticipating any problems. A bonus feature is the memory card reader on the front panel that I don't recall being listed in the specs.

So far, I am very pleased with this purchase. If there are any problems with the DVD, the SD card reader, or anything else I will amend this writeup.

I have used this computer for about 10 days now and I am very happy with it. It is much faster, especially on shutting down, than my old Win 7 computer. I'm not a gamer, so I don't know how it would work for that. This machine is just fine for what I usually do; email, surfing, documents, photos and other routine things. I had planned to buy and add an 8GB RAM stick, but read that going from 8 to 16GB doesn't make much difference. Since I am happy as it is, unless I find a reason, I won't be adding RAM.

This is a very good computer at a very reasonable price, and I recommend it.

It ships without a case fan so you have to add one. You can add a low end gaming card for low end gaming experience. This is going to cause some heat issues so beware on this. This unit was designed for business and internet surfing much more than gaming. I use if for work at home taking calls for a work at home call center. It's great for that and that is the kind of work it was made for. If they had shipped it with a case fan I would have given it 5 stars.

Only complaint on the computer itself is the vga cable only had one end that I could use as the other end just would not screw into either the monitor or tower. Used the HMDI cable I had purchased, just in case, and that worked. Tech support 3 stars because of the language barrier. So many of these people speak English but not English as most of us know. it.
I would buy this computer and monitor again.

Replaced my mom 8 year old PC, was so slow! She does not do much but this rig has decent horsepower for the money and an SSD to boot.

I have not needed tech support and do not use it for gaming.
It was a snap to set up right out of the box. I did not transfer everything from the old computer to this one, but with the cloud, all the data that I needed was there and ready to use. It boots in the snap of a finger and does its work in silence--it is absolutely quiet. The only thing I haven't done, and I am not sure how to do it and will have to look into it more is install my old SSD and reformat it to use as a backup. But that is for another day.

Just right for my needs. Very fast start up, and Website page downloads. Only negative things: the vertical CD/DVD slot is awkward to load/unload, and it could use more USB ports.

I needed to replace an older computer that died. This computer, with the solid state drive, is amazingly fast. I was impressed with the performance of it. The only gripe I have is the preloaded stuff from Acer. Simple to remove from the control panel though.

For the price this is more than enough to use as a casual desktop. It's a small desktop that packs a punch. There is plenty of ports, there are more USB ports than you could ever need, 2 hdmi ports and VGA, Type-C, Ethernet and honestly at this price you can’t really ask for more. It looks really sleek and is light and I just have it on my desk and it doesn't take up that much space. I have been using it a bit for casual use for a bit like watching movies, browsing the web and sending emails. It holds up great for all of those tasks. There is no lagging or stuttering, it can handle 4k video well, it boots up in seconds and the internet connection is great and doesn't drop randomly. It came with an extra connector for a hard drive which is nice. Now as a gaming machine this can handle simple stuff like portal and sonic mania and get 60fps on medium or high quality, but some harder games like overwatch, tomb raider, resident evil it had trouble with and could barely get 10fps. Now if you want to game on this its not too hard to pick up a $100 graphics card and install it because all the other parts should be able to handle harder games perfectly well it’s just that the internal graphics card that holds it back. I also ran a benchmark on Userbenchmark and got great results. It tests out your processor, graphics, hard drive and RAM. On everything except the graphics it got great results. Overall the PC ranked in the 64th percentile meaning out of 100 computers its in the top 36 which is good considering the price and some of the insane gaming rigs out there. As a desktop it got a 99% which is for basic web surfing, email and things like that, as a workstation it got 49% which is for stuff like editing, virtual machine use and number crunching and finally it got only 18% on gaming. The strongest points were the processor and hard drive while the weakest points were the graphics card and RAM. Here is a link to the benchmark if you want to see more. Overall if you just need a simple desktop to use for basic internet use and light gaming or number crunching this is a great pick up that I would definitely recommend as it holds up and I expect it to hold up for a long time.

This is exactly what I needed and at the best price around. Safe, efficient, quick shipping too.
